Puerto Galera is the north-westernmost municipality in the province of Oriental Mindoro. It is located in the southwestern end of the Verde Island Passage and a 130km south of Manila. The province is accessible from the Port of Batangas.
This is a coastal municipality wherein it is composed of many type of beaches, snorkeling and diving spots. Puerto Galera is included in the list of the most beautiful bays of the world. Among the beaches in Puerto Galera are Sabang Beach and White Beach, which have active nightlife with numerous bars and restaurants.
However, there is one part in Puerto Galera which you would love to spend your summer because it is not crowded, congested with establishments and would definitely enjoy quiet time at the beach.
How to get to Talipanan, Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro
From Manila, you can take a 2- hour bus ride to Port of Batangas from either Cubao, LRT Buendia or Alabang South Station. I did ride a bus from Alabang South Station because LRT Buendia is very crowded during weekends.
From Port of Batangas, you can buy your boat tickets from different shipping lines going to Puerto Galera for only php 600 with free shuttle service. They will drop you off to the resort then will pick you up after you check out. You just need to inform the ticket office that your resort is in Talipanan and expect a terminal fee of php30.
El Cañonero Diving Beach Resort
I stayed at El Cañonero Diving Beach Resort for 2 days and a night. Most of the resorts in Talipanan are owned and managed by Italian expats. They have started to established resorts which provided more jobs to the locals. I preferred to spend my weekends at Talipanan beach because I wanted to a quiet place, clean shorelines but still with affordable resorts.
If you are tired of staying at the beach, the resort also has a pool where you can swim and enjoy. The pool area is near their food and beverage section, so you can just ask any attendant if you wanted to order food or drinks.
There are also restaurants in the area where you can choose between Italian, American and Filipino dish. El Cañonero Diving Beach Resort also serves food to their guests. For more information you can visit their website.
You can also try to dine at Luca or Bamboo Beach Lodge Resort, they also serve Italian, America and Filipino dishes. The price range is between php 150 – php 400 with a serving capacity of 2-4 persons but if you are in a tight budget, you can eat at Mengie’s Carenderia located near the entrance area of the resort.
